When Was The First Motorhome Made?

Americans have traveled across the continent in various kinds of wheeled vehicles since the 1700's but the recreational vehicle, as we know it, got its start at the beginning of the 20th century. The size and shape of travel trailers and motor homes is limited only by the imagination of the builders. Americans have loved traveling, camping and living in their RV's, from Model T's to diesel pushers. To preserve this history the RV-Motor Home Hall of Fame near Elkhart, Indiana has assembled a huge collection of historic recreational vehicles from names like Fleetwood and Winnebago. See these often unique, always fun vehicles. Many features we think are modern developments have been around for generations. Click on the 1915 Telescope to see many historic RV's.
