The first part of care is keeping it clean by washing it with a
mild detergent. If you keep it clean, it will not look streaked and
stained. Between trips, you can just hose it off and wash away any
areas of dirt you see. At the end of the camping season, clean it
thoroughly. Air dust and road grime settles on your travel trailer
along with those dreadful bug splatters, so getting all this off every
trip is very important.
If it has screens, make sure you check
them each trip to make sure that they are not rotted or torn. If they
are repair them. You do not want to go camping and find out when night
falls the bugs are inside with you instead of being outside.
Check your fluid levels which includes gray water tanks, battery acid level, LP gas tanks, and black water tanks.
Most
travel trailers have a fire extinguisher in them but if not, put one in
there. You need to make sure that you check them often. You should
also have an LP Gas Leak Detector in the camper and it needs to be
checked every three months along with the carbon monoxide and smoke
alarm batteries. This is very important because they can save you and
your family’s lives so make sure they are working.
